This webinar will:

-Increase your knowledge of how Alzheimer's disease may affect a person with dementia's ability to communicate.

-Discuss tips on different approaches to communication with a person with demetia throughout the entire disease process. 

-Explore some therapeutic practices for connecting with an individual with dementia at end of life. 

-Highlight the services available at the Alzheimers Society of Toronto.

 

The webinar will be presented by Nicole Gardner, Public Education Coordinator at the Alzheimer's Society Toronto.

Nicole's role is to educate and build awareness on the topics of Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia and Brain Health. In her role Nicole also facilitates certificate programs for healthcare professionals on dementia care. Nicole previously worked as a Program Worker at the Alzheimer Society of Peel in an Adult Day Program for people living with dementia. This experience grew her love for creating stimulating, rewarding lives for people with dementia, their families and care partners. Nicole graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and is passionate about promoting active living and healthy lifestyle choices to keep one’s brain healthy and reduce the risk of developing dementia.
