Top 10 Tips to Support Family Councils

Cathleen Edwards Education Manager of Family Councils of Ontario presents:

Family Councils play an important role in fostering a sense of community by welcoming new families, volunteer work in the home, fundraising campaigns, and staff appreciation events. Through their internal advocacy, Councils shape the quality of life of residents. Staff and administrators have already spent time working to build relationships with Councils.

Temporary changes to policy and procedures during the first wave, COVID-19 triggered a disruption in the presence of families in long-term care homes. Unable to meet face to face, Family Councils shifted to the use of technology to facilitate virtual communication and meetings. In this presentation, Cathleen will outline the top ten tips for staff to support Family Councils and highlight relevant resources created by Family Councils Ontario to support staff and Family Councils.
