Some of my most well-received programs were the ones where I got to know the club members in our day program.  For example, one day we were discussing dancing and we talked about Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, this stemmed into a great conversation with a small group about dynamic duos.  I ended up writing down the names of several duos that they thought of.  I found pictures of them and a few fun facts and it's a favourite activity.  The club members directly picked the profiles we would have - they range from actual people, characters in movies/television, music, cartoons and muppets.  I used ChatGPT to help with the fun facts.

Thanks for sharing your aroma therapy program. I think we often forget the importance of aromatherapy for healing, energy and spiritual connection. Great job!!

During the isolating pandemic days in the early 2020s, a rise in emotions such as anxiety and apathy were noted as a concern. This inspired me to created the popular aromatherapy program we continue to use in our scent-free LTC home. To get our team and management on-board, I pulled together research articles and created a written plan to minimize risk for residents, staff and visitors alike. (It helped tremendously that I had the backing of our Programs and Volunteer Coordinator).

The aromatherapy program can be delivered in one of three modes: small group, room-to-room, or 1:1 gentle hand massage. One or more diffusers, a few key essential oils, and, if providing hand massage, a neutral and safe carrier oil or moisturizing lotion are the key supplies. Once trained, team members pick this program as a favourite because it is so well received.

Share one program, activity, or event you’re especially proud of.
Where did the inspiration come from?
What impact did it have on your community or clients?
Bonus points if you share a photo or flyer!

Let’s celebrate innovation, share resources, and learn from each other’s successes.
